Emma's Birthday

It has taken a few days to get our act together and post some birthday pictures but we're finally here!

Sunday morning Emma and Sammy enjoyed present opening with all kinds of wonderful gifts from the family

In addition to musical instruments, games, clothes, jewelry, books, art supplies, toys, and many great gifts, Emma also got a punching bag!  The kids figured out how to use it pretty quickly.

That afternoon several friends came for lunch.

Then we walked to a nature center in the Streuobstwiesen and the kids were tasked with collecting firewood. 

The firewood had to be broken or sawed into smaller pieces or sawed

 

and everyone was in charge of whittling a skewer for themselves.

Then our nature center leader helped get a campfire started.  Pizza dough made for yummy Stockbrot ("stick bread")

and roasted chocolate bananas were on for dessert.

In the evening Emma's family gathered on mass to toast the start of her 10th year.  Thanks to everyone who helped make it a special day!

The sillies finished their work on one of the Diabelli 4-hand duets today which you can watch/hear below.

Halloween

It is that time of year when girls want to dress up as secret agents (i.e. Carmen Sandiego) and boys want to costume themselves as Mozarts (i.e Wolfgang Amadeus).

Anyway, the kids had fun going around the neighborhood with Emma's friend Palak and her little brother. To my knowledge they didn't play any Halloween tricks on the neighbors but we'll see if the 

police show up in the next week or two.
