I think, for part of it, she is singing Old MacDonald, although he seems to have had a house instead of a farm and there's no mention of E-I-E-I-O. Instead, Sammy and Papa make cameo appearances. But anyway, here you are:

Erste Zauberflöte
Today with a Christmas gift from Oma and Opa we went to Sammy's first opera : Die Zauberflöte (Magic Flute).
Sammy was VERY engaged for the whole of Act 1 (when most of the best stuff happens). Here we are getting some apple juice at intermission.
After the Queen of Night's big aria in Act 2, Sammy found the proceedings a bit dull. I agreed, so Sam and I went to get some orange juice and a pretzel.
After we came back Sam followed the tradition of so many opera goers before him by falling fast asleep. I tried to wake him up towards the end to no avail. When he finally woke up an hour later on the couch at home, he said, "But I wanted to hear the Pa-pa-papagena part!" I guess that means he liked it. We're watching clips on youtube as I write this.

Vielen Dank!
Many thanks to my family in Eberstadt for a lovely birthday. We had a nice party with presents, great cakes, and nearly all of the family assembled. No pics this post, but just wanted to report. We're looking forward to seeing more family in Ohio soon and talking with everyone in the next few days.

Nikolaus Besuch
Breaking out the NEW CAMERA (thank you Grandma & Grandpa!), we documented a recent visit with a German group in Albuquerque. Lots of kids and a potluck dinner was capped off by a surprise visit from Nikolaus!! Presents and everything.

Emma's Dressup and Sam's Snowsuit

Yesterday, Emma got dressed up at school.
Notice the pony-tail! Emma was very pleased with the skirt and cried when we had to take it off.

I had a few more shots of Sammy during our sledding trip.
He was very proud of climbing the rock "mountains" such as this one.
It was very much a winter wonderland out there!
