Today was the last day of school for Sam and Emma AND our last day of a half-week without Mama at home (up in Köln doing some great recordings for her CD!). In other words, we had to find ways to celebrate the end of school and keep ourselves busy without Karola around. So we went to the Herrngarten downtown to try out the wooden sailboats S & E built at school. It went pretty well, despite an occasional capsizing or two.
Emma wasn't really in danger of falling in but I enjoyed photographing her in a way that suggested she would. We also had to check out the playground there which is a special favorite of the kids when they're with their Oma.
And then as it turns out, it was the first day of Heinerfest--our downtown carnival.
We tried to recreate the famous Heinerfest Cotton Candy picture from about 5 years ago:
Anyway, it was a nice day and as a special surprise Karola was home early when we finally made it back.
Okay, bye for now.
