Birthdays!

Happy Birthday to Samuel (13th) and Uncle Chris (14th) and Tante Marion (10th)



Samuel had a nice day celebrating his first year. We have an intolerably long video which is in three parts. We see Sam from his morning nap to lunch. Then there is the big trip to the toy-store. Our neighborhood toystore is terrific and has a fun play-area which Samuel climbed around in. Finally we come back home to play and to enjoy a birthday treat. WARNING: This is only for totally dedicated fans of the little guy. For what it's worth, we do get some of the much-awaited crawling.

Oregon Trip!

We're back in Cambridge and getting ready for teaching next year, but we wanted to pay homage to the wonderful vacation we had at the beginning of the month. K, P & S joined Betsy, Ed, Chris, Tom, Celina and Kaela in the lovely area on the US West Coast just inland from Portland for a week in a woodland log cabin!

We were treated to:
- incredible landscapes of the Columbia River Gorge
and all of its stunning waterfalls,

- beautiful wooded walks along the sonorous mountain streams

- the dramatic snowy ridges of Mt.Hood and the panoramic vistas of Oregon's vineyard country.

Good news.

We have good news - both K and P have been invited to teach at Wellesley College next year. It's only a one-year appointment, but gainful employment for not one but TWO composers seems like something to celebrate in any case. It is a composition post that we are sharing, though it involves many classes in music beyond composition as well. Samuel may do some teaching as a vocal instructor as well, if his schedule permits.

Among the many attractions the position has to offer, perhaps nothing surpasses the gorgeous campus. We include a few of our favorite images gathered from the depths of the web.
